The election is over and our Term Limits project WON!  Citizens of Arlington voted 63% YES to the 37% NO!  It was terribly exciting and we have been thrilled for the last two days.

Of course, it won’t be implemented until the May 2019 city election when three long-term (15 to 17 years) city council people, must resign.  We will be looking for some good people to run to fill those spaces. So, contact us if you are interested. In 2020, two more must go.

We do expect some "push back" as we have heard that the Mayor and the Council will be looking at some way to overturn Prop E, as it was called on the election ballot. We have even heard there maybe a lawsuit,  But, that probably is just a rumor. We will continue to follow and post the "happing's " as they show up.

For now, it is a time to celebrate and rest.  But in the new year we will look forward to our next project which will be to get anti-corruption laws, gerrymandering voting districts, and dark money out of our city by creating more transparency in our local government.

We will do more Climate environment events and who knows what else?

We had a great time at our PWA Birthday party!  The food was excellent and I think we all got to know one another a little better.  By the conversation, it was clear that we all had the same thoughts about what is happening in our country.  It made our commitment to what we can do even stronger. This is a great group of women and, I for one, am so thrilled to be able to speak my mind around them and still feel heard and understood. We shared about how much there was to do before the November election and it is clear getting people to the polls is the most important task facing us. We will be working with GOTV and our several voter registrars will be really busy in the coming months. We voted on a new description for our group.  I thought it very moving. IMAGINE!!!!! We have set up a youtube channel for PWA's use in the future but right now we are using it to post our new video just done a couple of weeks ago.  It is ordinary citizens giving their thoughts on Proposition E Term Limits.  I think it proves that they are not a bunch of "extremists" as the Mayor and Council have called them. I am so excited (and that is a poor word for how I feel - actually elated beyond belief!). We delivered a 11,433 signature petition(only needed 9,200) to the City Secretary this morning at 11 a.m. News cameras were there and they interviewed Zack and myself. We think it will be on some of the newscast this evening.  You all are probably going to laugh but the most cordial and best interviewers were FOX news!!! We have finally been able to show progressives and others that you can break the stronghold that conservatives hold over our city (which is the reddest city in the state, in the reddest county in the state) so there is no excuse to believe that you vote doesn't matter here!!! It will definitely matter here in November! Register, register and vote, vote! Delivering to the City Secretary!
