WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON………… At the first of the year, several members of the PWA joined a group of activists who wanted to enroll many of the progressive groups in Arlington to create a coalition of groups in order to work together on many of the issues that we shared an interest in. There were quite a few meetings and since Arlington had a May election coming up to fill vacant City Council members seats, those which were vacated as a result of Term Limits, it seemed that was an urgent topic. The Coalition for a Better Arlington was created and began to work to join other progressive groups in Arlington to work together to get more liberal leaning candidates to run for the vacated City Council positions and to run against the Mayor. Several members of the PWA worked very hard on the above project. We had various events to raise money to support those candidates. One was a silent auction at J. Gilligans where the candidates spoke and great donated articles were auctioned
